Hervey Bay RSL Services and Memorial Club Inc Code of Conduct for Members, Guests and Visitors

Purpose

The purpose of this Code is to provide members, guests and visitors with guidance on the standards of behaviour that are expected of them while they are on the Club premises so as to ensure everyone can enjoy amenities provided by the Club in a safe and responsible manner.

Commitment

The Code demonstrates the shared commitment by the Club Management and members, guests and visitors in working together to achieving a social environment that enhances members, guests and visitors’ enjoyment of the Club’s facilities and services.

Authority

The authority of the Code is vested in the Club Constitution/Rules, in particular the provisions relating to Club visitation and membership. In the event of an inconsistency, provisions contained in the Club Constitution/Rules take precedence over the Code.

Principles

Access to the Club is a privilege to be cherished and safeguarded. Accordingly, members, guests and visitors shall:

1. respect the rights of others to enjoy the Club’s facilities and services to the fullest extent
2. interact with each other and with the employees in a courteous manner. This includes intentional touching, hugging or assault of staff and or contractors of the club.
3. refrain from actions and behaviours that undermine the health and safety of others
4. show due consideration for the needs of others, including their right to privacy
5. comply with Club policies, signage and lawful directions of employees
6. access the Club with proper identification and fulfil sign-in requirements, if applicable
7. ensure that children are safe, well behaved and accompanied by a responsible adult
8. abide by the dress code of the Club (available on request)
9. not bring food or drinks on the premises for consumption on the premises
10. not bring on Club premises or have in their possession any illegal materials
11. handle properties belonging to the Club with care an diligence
12. not represent the Club in any dealings, unless authorised by the Board/Management Committee
13. not pursue personal activities on Club premises, without prior permission
14. not tarnish the reputation of the Club or bring it into dispute
15. abide by the club’s responsible service of alcohol and gaming policies (available upon request)

Application

The Code applies to members, guests and visitors when they are on Club premises. Subject to legal considerations, interpretation of the principles by the Board/Management Committee is final.

Compliance

The Code will be actively monitored by the Club. If a breach occurs and can be proven, the Club will initiate disciplinary action against the relevant members(s), guest(s) and/or visitor(s) concerned, which may include warnings, withdrawal of certain privileges, suspension or termination of membership or denial of access to the Club. Any disciplinary action under the Code will be in accordance with the Constitution/Rules and laws applicable to the Club. As far as reasonably possible, member(s), guest(s) and/or visitor(s) concerned will be accorded natural justice.
